no forbidden don't serious frown man hand gesture

Don’t listen to your friends and family when it comes to your dream. They will be the 1st ones to tell you that you can’t do something. Don’t be offended. It’s not because of you, it’s because they can’t see themselves doing it. They limit you because they can’t do it.

“Uncle said I’ll never sell a million records.
I sold a million records like a million times”

Jay Z

Take the time. Do the research. Do the work. Reap the benefits. Then your friends and family will tell you, they knew you could do it all alone!

Starting Is Scary

Starting a business, adding a new service, or inventing a product can be a scary thing. Not just for you but the people who love you. They want what’s best for you and the fear of you “not making it”, makes them terrified. They think about their experiences, stories they have heard, and just how daunting of a task that you are tasked with. So they quickly dismiss your idea.

Scary Is Good

Being scared is not all bad. In contrast, being afraid could be used to be careful and attentive. It will cause you to pay attention to details and make an extra effort to make sure things go right. Before you make the step, you will plan, you will play out certain scenarios, and pick the 1 you think fits you the best.

But that’s it.

That’s all fear is good for. It’s good to help you properly plan your actions, and give you the confidence that you need to do what it takes to get what you want. Once you come up with that plan, it’s time to execute.

Take The First Step

Have a plan, but still scared. It’s OK to be scared. Remember that without fear there would be no courage. The only thing that you need to worry about at the moment is the 1st thing you needed to do in your plan.

You don’t have to have all of the answers.

You don’t have to be perfect the 1st time you provide the service.

You just have to be willing to do the 1st thing that you planned to do for your idea.

Be Flexible and Willing To Adapt

Here is where things get interesting. When you take your 1st step, there will be things that will happen that will automatically tell you what step #2 is. You may have #2 figured out already, but then again something may direct you to another task that is just as important.

For example, let’s say you want to start a work-from-home business. Let’s say your business is to be a virtual assistant for other businesses. You decide that you want to:

  1. Register Your Business
  2. Get A Logo
  3. Get A Website

This seems like an easy 1,2,3 for a startup, right?

So you decide that you are going to do step 1. and register your business, but on the application, it asks for an address and a phone number. You immediately think “I don’t want people I don’t know to know where I live, or my personal phone number”, so you decide to get a P.O. Box business address and Tracking phone number.

If you are in business, there will be many instances like this, that you will learn as you go. However, don’t try to avoid them, simply learn and adapt.

Provide Your Service

Do it!

The gift you have. The passion you have. The thing that you can do better than everyone else. Or faster. Or maybe you have a special touch that you feel people haven’t seen. Do that for people.

When you do, they will provide you with valuable feedback on your product, service, or message. Use that feedback to make the experience better for the next customer.

Congratulations You’re In Business

That’s it! You’re in business!

It’s that simple. You have started the process, you are now learning what you need to do to be successful. You are adapting to the needs of your customers. You’re on the road to success.
